So you want to lose weight…
You want to lose weight because you are tired of being tired. You want to lose weight because you want to look better. You want to lose weight because you want to find a mate.
No matter the reason, you are determined this time. So how are you going to do it?
The fitness industry is a multi-billion dollar failure. You are taught so much crap that isn’t true. Think about it. If you are taught how to lose the weight and keep it off without it being so hard, what would the fitness industry be worth then?
What should you do first if you want to lose weight?
The first thing you should do is start a resistance (weight) training program. Why? Because it takes 100 calories to feed each pound of muscle per day, so if you grow more muscle the calories you are eating will feed your muscles and not be stored as fat.
I know you think you will look like a bodybuilder. Not hardly. You can control how you look by changing repetitions and sets, more on that in another article.
Remember you don’t have to spend 3 hours a day in the gym to grow muscle. You can do this working out 7 minutes a day 3 times a week. You just need to start your body moving.
One other thing I want to say about the fitness industry
One other thing the fitness industry makes you think is you have to do cardio to lose weight. Not true. Cardio does burn calories like other activities you do, but it is not a must to lose weight.
I used to think that if I didn’t do cardio I would not lose weight. Well I have been losing weight and I have not done any cardio in 4 months.
Just so you understand, my heart gets a good workout, because of the way I do my resistance training, again more on that in another article.
People who start a resistance-training program seem to make better choices when it comes to eating. I know I do. I also indulge in things I love, but I do it in moderation. I do not deprive myself of anything I want. I don’t say I am on a diet whatsoever.
So if you want to lose weight start building some muscle, and you will see the weight drop off. The calories you are eating will be redistributed to feed the muscle and you fat will shrink.
Let me know if you have any questions. I am starting another 30-day challenge to see how much muscle I can build. If you want to join and be an accountability partner just leave me a comment below.

Gail,
Sorry to hear about your hamstring and elbow. I know that has to be painful. Take care of yourself.
Anyway, I hope all is well with you other than the injuries.

Great article on exercise! I have been an oon-again, off-again exerciser for years now and just started back into the on-again cycle. Exercise along with the proper foods can create a healthy lifestyle change! I have also started on a Healthy Eating program (notice I did not say diet). Together, I am forseeing great results!
Hi Jaden,
Count me in on the 30-day challenge… Now I have to put my money where my mouth is, and not food!
It’s great that introducing just 7 minutes a day of exercise can help us lose weight. It doesn’t leave much room for excuses not to do it! Incorporating several strategies into our routine is also important; adding some simple things into what we are already doing helps a lot. Change up what we’re already doing like walk instead of driving whenever we can, leverage 3 simple exercises, or a walk in the park during work breaks. It’s easy and just takes the decision and determination to do it. Being watchful with our caloric intake, making sure input and output are at levels we want, also goes a long way in keeping the extra pounds off our body.
Hi Jaden,
I seem to have put on a few pounds in the last year. Must be all of this internet marketing and not enough walking!
I am quite content in myself but I will be back when I feel like I need your help mate.
Belief is a key factor for people who want to change the way they look.

To lose weight we should really start moving. I always force myself to go to gym. It is irritating just thinking about going to the gym and start with my program. But once I am there, I am happy I made the decision. Thanks for inspiring me more.
Jaden great article on what it takes to really lose weight…work. I saw a commercial the other day that told people it wasnt their fault that they are overweight. Yes it is! Take responsibility you got yourself in the mess you can get yourself out.

Great post Jaden, I’ve definitely got some weight loss goals on my list in prep for the holidays so these tips will come in handy!
Hey Jaden,
Excellent article on some facts with regards to weight loss.
I found it interesting that it takes 100 calories to feed each pound of muscle per day! Sounds like your suggestion of “resistance” training is the way to go to lose that unwanted fat.
The 7 minute workout sounds like it would be a good place to start if you are serious about losing weight and improving your health.
Thanks for sharing Jaden,
Kevin
Hi Jaden,
This is a very good post. I just started a weight training program and I am loving it. It tripped me out because this is my first time on a weight training program and really focusing on it, but I thought I was tripping out because I was feeling more hungry. I found out that this was normal. I love how my body is changing. I feel great and stronger day by day. I like how you said you indulge in things you love, in moderation. That is real talk right there.
Thanks Jaden!

Hi Jaden,
Great post and exactly the direction I had planned on going until I tore a hamstring while attempting to roller skate. The excruciating pain made me fall
and I crushed a very important bone in my elbow. So I am presently in a splint and doing PT. I hope I can graduate to some day participate in your challenge.
With a smile,
Gail
