How many network marketing companies have you joined?
I watched a interview with Brain Tracy who stated that most people join 25 MLM’s before they find the company that suits them. After watching the interview, my wife asked me, “How many network marketing companies have you been in?” I had no idea.
So, she grabbed a notebook, and I started naming companies. Let me go ahead and list them.
· Amway
· Equinox
· Excel
· World Marketing Alliance
· Success University
· World Ventures
· Prosperity Cast Network
· Mentors In Motion
· Your Travel Biz
· Traverus
· Send Out Cards
· Global Domains International
· iLearning Global
· Local Ad Link
· Vemma
· Global Information Network
· Take Shape For Life
· Global Virtual Opportunities
· GVO Conference
· Global NPN
· Shaklee
· 7 Minute Workout
· IWowwe
· Fortune High Tech Marketing
That’s a lot of companies. I know what you are thinking…Jaden is a business opportunity jumper. I guess you could be right, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
In the early years with Amway, Equinox, Excel, and World Trade Alliance (now, known as World Financial Group, Inc.), I thought I was going to make big bucks. I had my upline lie to me left and right and I bought right into his lies.
I wasn’t sure about writing down the names of my family and friends. I kept thinking, it would be a lot easier if I was already making money. I just couldn’t get past that mentality at that time.
In Equinox, before they went under, there was a guy I went to school with supposedly made millions in the company. He was in their big star book and everything. So I knew I was going to make money too.
Anyway, I was not cut out to talk to people on my own. I had low self-esteem. My up-lines were not turning me on to good books. In fact, I wasn’t told to read books back then. Just buy the company’s cassettes and listen to them. Except a lady in Equinox that wasn’t in my upline, told me to buy ‘How To Win And Influence Friends’. I did and that was the start of my book collection.
Well, I gave up on network marketing then, even though I told my family and friends network marketing is the best business to be in. You can actually become financially independent if you can do it.
When I was asked why wasn’t I doing it, I said because I am no good at talking to people. I didn’t realize then you could learn and grow from books and become the person you want to become.
Anyway, I decided to learn internet marketing. I wanted to do business online. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but I knew I wanted to work online.
In my next post, I will explain how I got started in internet network marketing and talk about a couple more businesses.
How many companies have you joined? Did you make any money? Did you have regrets?

Great post Jaden! We really have to do that in order to create a more generating income as a marketer. These companies help a lot in your success as a marketer, so we have to grab the opportunity to be one of their members.

Network marketing has a bad rap. Some of that is deserved and there are many MLM companies out there that should be avoided. But they aren’t all bad.

I’m not currently involved in Network Marketing, but I do know a couple of people who are in Send Out Cards, which I consider one of the good ones.
To find a good network marketing company, you have to find one that is more about the product than recruiting new people. If you can only make serious money by having a downline, then it is nothing more than a pyramid scheme. I dislike companies that have requirements that each member has to spend a large chunk of money each month to be a member. I also think that people should avoid companies that overprice their products.
One thing I dislike about MLM is that they sell the dream too much. They make it sound like anyone can achieve financial freedom through their company. But they know this isn’t true. Only certain types of people do well in a network marketing company. Recruiting new members is fine–but people should be honest about it.

That’s quite a list of MLM companies Jaden. Amway or as my friend Doc referred to them as “Scamway” was huge back in the day. I even went to 2 of their big company meetings. The first one was real cool and fun, but the second one was full of stress and pressure.
Some guy that used to play for the Baltimore Colts was the “big wig” at the time.

My first thought is surprise at that 25 MLM figure. I didn’t go through that many, but then again, it might be closer to reality than I was thinking. If you count the times you signed up just to check something out and never did anything….which we have all done….it could add up pretty fast.

Well take heart Jaden – you are absolutely correct about how people jump from one opportunity to the next. I am not now, or have I ever been in network marketing, but I worked for one of the global giants of direct sales for nearly a decade. During that time I saw people come and go – most never really doing the work to get started right let alone build a business.

Hi Jaden
You Almost sound like me LOL, well i think a also join over 10 up to this point.
Have some good times and not so good times, well put it this way if it was not for MLM
I would not learn about personal development ext. and i would not met the people that
lead me to create my game that i am working on that will lead me to were i want to be.
MLM is still good but you need to know how to create a back up if things fall apart.

Jaden,
I agree with Kevin about your honesty. it takes guts to hang out your laundry on the Internet. I don’t think I’ve hit the 25 company mark, but I believe I am in double digits. The thing I have just come to realize is that it takes a certain kind of person to enroll others like themselves, a bit of tenacity and a whole lot of luck. Those business builders we all dream of are not a plentiful and one might expect.
Looking forward to your next post.

Hey Jaden,
I just love your honesty and your approach in your blog entries.
Yes, I believe that most of us have been in several different opportunities over the years, I know that I have.
Truth is that there are a lot of great mlm companies out there offering some fantastic products and services which provide great value to the consumer. It really doesn’t matter as much about which company you join (of course you should have a passion for the product or service which they offer) but rather it matters more about where YOU are at personally with regards to having the proper mindset when you join a particular company.
As you’ve discovered and experienced yourself, jumping from opportunity to opportunity won’t bring you success. But when you have an opportunity that you believe in and then start to grow personally by reading books, asking for assistance and most of all assisting others … then success isn’t a question of if but rather when you will achieve true success in this industry.
Awesome Post Jaden, thanks for sharing.
